Sacral Occipital Technique (SOT)
SOT is a method of chiropractic that utilizes a system of identifying three body
distortion patterns called Categories. The three categories identify problems in the
body's cranial sacral mechanism, the body's weight-bearing system, and lumbar joint
failure, which often involves intervertebral disc damage.
This technique also includes a system of organ function analysis and treatment
utilizing spinal adjustment, at the spinal level associated with the organ in question,
and reflex work to cause normalization of nervous function to the organ involved.
This reflex work can be used to affect the heart, lungs, gallbladder, stomach, spleen,
liver, adrenal glands, pancreas, kidneys, intestines and reproductive organs.
SOT utilizes a gentle method of normalizing cranial motion. Cranial manipulation
in combination with SOT adjusting techniques can reduce the frequency and severity of
migraine headaches.
Dr. Stromberg has found SOT effective in treating headaches, migraines,
herniated discs, and back pain..
Patients who exhibit severe neurological signs indicating the possibility of
permanent neurological compromise may be referred for evaluation by MRI and if necessary
sent to an orthopedic surgeon for evaluation.
